The Chaplain Assistance Program

_

How is the Chaplain Assistance Program (CAP) different from an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
The CAP is about building ongoing relationships with all employees and offering informal and formal support based on an employee's request and level of need.  The Chaplain is personally available to each family represented in your company.  Also, the Chaplain is able to provide more depth and breadth of care than a traditional, office-based EAP.

The EAP is office-based and is generally limited to counseling support.  EAP staff counselors are not trained or available to go anywhere, fill almost any need, and care for employees personally whenever the need arises.

What are the benefits to employees and companies?
The tangible employee and company benefits of Corporate Chaplaincy are numerous:
  • Employees’ improved attitudes and better performance
  • Employees’ increased company loyalty and commitment to the job
  • Employees’ decreased anxiety and stress along with more stable personal and family lives.
These benefits help a company enjoy a lower turnover rate and higher productivity which have a direct, positive impact on the company's bottom line.

So what does the Chaplain Assistance Program look like on a daily or weekly basis?

The Chaplain will provide:
  • 24 hours per day / 7 days per week / 365 days per year availability in case of an emergency, crisis, or other need;
  • Weekly visits to the company in order to build relationships with employees, to offer a brief word of encouragement, and to support the values and mission of the company.

The Chaplain will provide care in the following areas:
  • Stress management related to personal or work concerns
  • Up to six counseling sessions per employee (or dependent family member) before referral to private therapist or psychologist
  • Emergency intervention (suicide, illness, etc.)
  • Marriage, remarriage, pre-marital support
  • Wedding ceremony officiating
  • Problems with wayward children
  • Divorce Care
  • Hospital visitation
  • Drug and alcohol problems
  • Spousal and child abuse
  • Serious illness
  • Death, dying and funeral services
  • Long-term grief support
  • Spiritual consultation and care
  • Offering prayer or special comments at company gatherings per the request of company leadership
  • Financial & budgeting matters
  • Courtroom emotional support
  • Support for victims of sexual harassment
  • Smooth transition of laid off or terminated employees
  • Assisting supervisors with attraction and retention problems
  • Dispute resolution among employees
  • Offering emotional and spiritual first aid to employees (and family members) who are injured on the job, experience a life-threatening situation at work, or who need to receive death notifications or other difficult news at work
  • Personalized referrals for additional, specialized services (medical, psychological, financial, spiritual, legal, etc.)
  • Coordinating with or replacing company's current Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

How is the Chaplain Assistance Program funded by the Company?
Each company pays a fixed amount per month based on an agreement between the company and Chaplain Heath Lisenby.  The cost is determined by the average number of hours required to serve a particular company.  This approach helps a company budget for this type of employee benefit as well secures constant care for their employees and families.
